Shark watching tours:
Witnessing
a very large great white shark consume an 800 lb. sea lion or juvenile elephant seal can be a
very dramatic experience.
These particularly violent acts are as natural as the rising of the tide for
the shark.
Such acts of nature may be more than some can bear, but this is the only
way for us surface dwellers to lay eyes on these Apex
Predators.
During the Fall months (Sept – Nov), thousands
of marine mammals migrate to the Farallon
Islands, which are approximately 27 miles from
the San Francisco Bay to breed and calve their
young. This event attracts the largest great
white sharks in the World. The Farallon
Islands, located in the red triangle, are the
known feeding ground for the great white
sharks before their long Pacific Migration.
We have had many dramatic encounters from
great white attacks from the safety of the
vessel. These events are purely natural and
part of everyday life at these islands. This is
an event that is truly unforgettable.
ALL-DAY EXCURSIONS:
Group Rates are available.
Our adventure from San Francisco Fisherman’s
Wharf to the Farallon Islands is a full day
excursion. You are welcome to bring any of your favorite foods and beverages to last the day. Private charters are welcome to bring a keg of beer!
This trip also
provides an atmosphere with instructions and
information of the great white sharks and the
marine sanctuary of the Farallon Islands.
Our shark encounters are viewed from
the
surface. On some trips
we may see 2 or more sharks; on others, we may
not see any. However, we may also observe migrating
whales (grey whaless and hump backs, and maybe even blues), orcas (killer whales), porpoises
and dolphins, sea birds and occasional feeding frenzies of fish boiling on
the surface.
The Farallon Islands are a safe haven
to 37
different endangered species and over 400 species of sea
birds.
This is a fantastic expedition for anyone
who loves
the outdoors! This rare adventure will provide
you with an opportunity to observe and photograph a great white shark attack
for a memory of a lifetime!
